[SIDE] Franse
-General-
Side Name: Franse
Ruler Name: King Louis XXXVII
Favored Terrain: Mountain.
Description: Franse was created many turns ago, founded by King Louis I. All Kings of Franse were named Louis. Except Frederick. He is left out of most history books, not because he wasn't called Louis, but because he managed to conquer half of Erfworld despite not being called Louis. Naturally, the minute he died his empire broke up and when his successor, Louis XIV, was asked by one of his courtiers if perhaps Frederick's success was because of his name, rather than despite it, Louis had him disbanded instantly. The current Louis is determined to shake off the belief that the name is what carries the air of incompetence which surrounds the Frensh royal line. So far, he has been unsucessful, as during his first few turns as ruler, Franse was entirely conquered, but for the capital city of Pawis. In the grand tradition of Frensh rulers, Louis issued an official surrender, grabbed 10,000 shmuckers and ran off to some remote corner of the Erf, to start anew.
Livery: Their symbol is a strange one--a black bat-shaped emblem (reportedly invented by Louis XXIX, who used various magic items built into his black armor, fought alongside his troops, and according to legend had a combat value of 20 and could be summoned by shining his symbol in the sky--these claims are probably false, though. It should be noted that Louis XV was inexplicably a vampire, and could have come up with the symbol himself), and their flag is white, with the symbol in the corner. When they need to surrender, they just rip the corner off the flag. Each unit has a different colour scheme, due to their mixed origins (see units, below), but they all have the bat-symbol somewhere.
All units have terrain capability (mountain).

- Spoiler:
- Infantry
The current infantry are mostly an amalgamation of the units of sides that the early Louis' conquered (their original sides are listed in brackets next to their names).
Stabbers: Duelists (Ehspanya)
H:5C:5D:1M:5 (30)
Duelists are proud of their sword skills, and are masters of the blade. This makes them formidable fighters, however they disdain from wearing armour, maintaining that if the Titans had wanted them to defend, they would have popped them with higher defence values. They are also quite fast, as when their first attack fails, and they are left epxosed to enemy attacks, their usual strategy is "El flee!" They don't quite speak Language perfectly, but an Earth Spanish speaker would find plenty of grammar mistakes in their vaguely Spanish speech, so precisely what their language is remains a mystery.
Pikers: Legionawies (Wome)
H:10C:2D:5M:2, garrison (20)
Legionwaies mostly just stand still, staring into space, until an enemy enters their hex, at which point they stand still, an enemy impaled on their spear, staring into space.
Archers: Longbowmen (Bwitain)
H:5C:7D:2M:2, ranged, garrison (30)
Longbowmen take a while to drag their weapons into position, but once there unleash all hell upon anyone within reach. They are heavy drinkers, but this never seems to affect their deadly aim. It does, however, affect their mentality, and they are known for being basically fearless. Right up until the enemy get close enough to hit back. Then the flags start tearing (if you didn't get that, you skimmed my livery bit above. Go back and read it).
Scouts: Bostonians (er...)
H:3C:2D:0M:7, scout (30)
Nobody is quite sure where these came from. Yelling like maniacs, they race around, hitting anything moving with their metal bats. They drink a lot of energy drinks. Radioactive energy drinks. Their favourite word, usually used to describe an enemy's caved-in skull, is "BOINK!" They seem to think they're invincible, until they get into a fight, learn their limitations, and promptly forget them in time for the next fight.
- Spoiler:
- Specials
Really, nobody has any idea where these came from. Frederick picked them up. Blame him. Or thank him. Either way.
Special A: Kalashnikovs
H:9C:4D:4M;3, siege (40)
Kalashnikovs appear to be large (very large) humans, with Wussian accents, despite claiming to come from "badlands", or alternatively "teufort". They fight with their bare fists, as when given a weapon, they spend all their time rattling off statistics about it, rather than fighting. They seem stupid, but it tuns out they just don't speak Language very well-they actually have an average IQ of 150. You may address them as "Heavy Weapons Guy", or "Mr. Weapons" if you're familiar with them (just don't bring up the subject of them not actually having weapons). Their superiors can call them "Heavy" without recieving a fist to the face. They are referred to as Kalashnikovs when not being spoken to directly, but being talked about, to avoid confusion with Heavy units.
Special B: Bears. Yeah, not beaws. Bears.
H:6C:3D:3M:8, mount (40)
Bears are the standard mounts for Frensh units. Basically, bear cavalry. You're screwed.
Special C: Rhinoceraptors
H:9C:5D:6M:11*, mount, fast (80)
These are the heavier mounts, much preferred by warlords and rulers. Basically, they are a Velociraptor with a rhino's near-bulletproof skin and horn(s).
Special D: Super Giga Mecha Nesbitt's
H:24C:12*D:12M:14, heavy, ranged, dance-fighting, siege (250)
Basically, giant robots with nigh-impenetrable armour and their own theme song ("It's super giga mecha nesbitt...doo doo doo doo doo...").Oh, and rocket-powered fists. Do not forget those, lest they impact upon you in the most literal sense. Some warlords refer to them as SGMN's, or Segmen. For some reason. They hover a couple of feet off the ground, but it's not enough to count as flight, as they cannot go over obstacles. Except possibly pebbles.
Knights: Samuwai
H:13C:12*D:6M:5, rider, sonic breath weapon (90)
Basically the protagonists from any anime. Gravity-defying hair, nonsensical catchphrases, gigantic weapons, and awesome powers. They come in a very wide variety, but the sonic breath weapon seemed to sum most of these powers up well enough.
- Spoiler:
- Navy
Sloop: Torpedo
H:6C:2D:2M:9T:8, water-capable (60)
Basically cases of metal which troops are packed into. They are powered by steam engines, and so are very fast, but to shed weight, their hulls are very thin, and rather fragile.
Galley: Fireship
H:8C:13D:3M:5T:16, water-capable (90)
Discorvered by King Louis XXXIII's chief warlord, Gweasemonkey, Gweek fire is a very powerful weapon. Such is the current Louis' enthusiasm for the weapon he forgot to make the ships effective in any other way than the fact that they shoot fire that burns underwater and sticks to everything.
Galleon: Dreadnought
H:10C:12D:18M:5T:30, water-capable (130)
Dreadnoughts are heavily-armoured behemoths, and basically look like modern battleships. Being quite slow, they usually blockade their enemies and force them to attack if they want to pass. Another reason for this is their crews are lazy. Their main method of attack is to ram their enemies with their considerable bulk, or to have their crews throw bricks from ship to ship. Why are their infinite supplies of bricks onboard? Who knows? It's not quite arrows, but you know, whatever.

Re: [SIDE] Franse
Is your main tactic to surrender?
Well, at least you got the rules of french warfare correct: The french can only win when their force is made up of mostly non-frenchmen!
Also, the Bostonians should have a ranged stun special. Or an "annoying" special that does absolutely nothing but make people want to strangle him. Also, the Kalashnikov should have a boolet as it's commanding officer. Because I've yet to meet one who can outsmart boolet.
There's no way he can have rocket powered fists!
Awesome side. And you gave me more ideas for my iMeme side.
Number one threat to Amurica/Americalanyvania(I mean America): BEARS!!!!
One last thing, if hevy weapons guy wants his Sasha, my pirates might be able to craft it for him.

Re: [SIDE] Franse
If you gave the Heavy a weapon, he'd spend all day talking about it and never get to the fighting.
Also, Louis XXXVII (the current one) seems to dislike surrendering, for some reason. He is renowned for being a bit unorthodox.
And I think the ranged stun thing for the scouts would be awesome, but then I'd have to give up 2 points elsewhere, making them either A. As slow as my stabbers, or B. have 0 attack. I could take one off each of move and combat, but I don't know. I guess it would help their 'hit-and-run' style of fighting if they had ranged. What do you think?
Anyway, glad you like it.

Re: [SIDE] Franse
eh, the whole bostonian ranged stun was another reference to their annoyance in TF2. While giving them that special would increase their upkeep, giving it to them via fabrication wouldn't be a bad idea, except for the fact that the rules state that fabricated items can't be used by the basic infantry, so that idea is moot.

Meh, it was an okay idea, the whole stun thing.
"We ran out of film three hours ago."
"blah blah blah, like to think of myself as a sort of mentor to the team, blah blah blah..."
"We ran out of film three hours ago."
Other ramblings: Louis XXXVII recently recieved a shipment of enchanted doorknobs. He didn't order any, and they all seem to have weapon-like enchantments that boost accuracy, damage and the like. His current weapon, therefore, is a sack filled with enchanted doorknobs, which he hits people with, utilising all their enchantments at once.
If possible, I will get a fabricator to create some kind of magical weapon to represent this. I'll just say until then he's still hunting for a bag indestructible enough to contain over 20 magical objects and still be light enough hit people with.
